THE SHOW Saturday - Day 7. (Kaden's mom)

LUBA
Friday (Dec. 17) while we were meeting with the Director of the orphanage and all the others, the director mentioned that the children were putting on a program in celebration of the holiday Saturday and invited us to come see it.  We arrived Saturday morning around 10:45.  There was a instant stir in the auditorium from the children as we entered.  I could hear them saying Svintsova in whispers amoung the students.  This told me they knew who we were.  Lera's last name is Svintsova, so apparently she had told her classmates that we would be coming to see the program.  They seemed very facinated by the Americans coming to their world.  When we found a seat we looked toward the stage and saw two faces poking through the curtains on stage.  It was Lera and Vladik.  They were so excited to see we were there.  They were beaming to have a mom, dad and big brother come watch them perform and we were so proud as the mom, dad and big brother get to be part of this and see the talent that God has placed within these children.  After sitting for a few minutes we spotted Luba sitting up front on the side of the auditorium, she didn't want to look at us because she would have beamed too.  Luba likes to be in control and not show her emotions.  She likes to keep you guessing.

Good ole Vladik.

Lera on left and Kristina on right, Kristina's hair is frizzed because of the part she played in the play.

At 11:00 there came a parade of people coming in from the back of the auditorium walking down the isle to the front of the auditorium to the VIP seats that had been reserved for them.  This included the director of the orphanage.  Everyone stood to show respect and clapped.  Steve said one was the mayor of the town another from the chemical plant here in town. We all sat down and the show started. It was a good show and the songs got stuck in your head. All of our children had important roles, not to brag or anything but they DID GREAT! Afterwards a dignitary spoke for a very long time and then we got to see our kids. They were very happy to see us and hugged us and then we were shown into a library and we played UNO and some other games, once we had played awhile the director and the dignitaries came in and she introduced us and then said how we were stealing her star performers. They were touring the orphanage and so they went on to it, I guess we were just a little sideshow! We were told we would have to move to another room soon and so Vladik invited us to his floor. We were alone for awhile but soon enough more kids came in and we met some   of them. When it was time to leave we said goodbye and left to go to the hotel restaurant and eat. It was a great meal and Sergey recommended the homestyle potatoes and come to find out they were kind of like French fries but not fried! After all this we went back to our hotel room and went to sleep.
