A LAZY LAZY DAY & UNEXPECTED NEWS Monday - Day 9.

Today started off as a very uneventful day but a fun one. All we did was stay at the hotel.  We didn't even go visit the children during visitation hours this afternoon which is between 3 and 5 pm each week day because Sergey was busy driving the kids and the school nurse to different doctor's offices around town for the children's medical examinations which is part of this process.  I don't really understand why but they have to go see several doctors.  At each office there is already a line of patients waiting to be seen so they have to get in line with the others and wait.  Besides the other patients waiting to be seen there are 4 of them that has to be seen so each doctor's office takes a long time to get through.  This makes for an extremely long day for the children, but imagine what a long day it is for the nurse and Sergey with our active kids. The good thing about Sergey accompanying them is he can transport them in his car quickly to the next one.  Otherwise they would have to walk to every office which might make the process take two days instead of one.  While they were off running from doctor to doctor Dad and I played some cards and we played with this insanely fun toy. It's a paddle with velcro on it and the other kind of velcro on this ball and when you throw it, it sticks to the paddle. I'll see if I can't upload the video.
Since we were in the hotel room most of the day, I noticed when my Grandmother turned on her computer and got on the internet.  It was 3:30 pm our time which meant it was 7:30 am her time, but since she got on the internet I knew she must be up so I called her by Skype to check in.  She began to tell us that she was up early because she was getting ready to head to the hospital.  She went on to tell us that my Granddad had been having chest pains in the early AM hours of Sunday morning and thought it would be a good idea to get checked out.   Granddad was able to get himself in the car and out of the car into a wheelchair at the emergency room.  The doctors went right to work on him with asprin and nitroglycerin tablets and 2 shots of morphine for the pain.  The pain did not subside so they gave him a shot with another medication for pain which did the trick and he was able to rest more comfortably.  After a battery of tests they did confirm it to be a heart attack.  We were shocked and sad that we couldn't be there with G'mom and G'dad.  They have been so supportive of our choice to adopt these children, and now we cannot be there with them when they need us.  G'mom also informed us that G'dad was to have a stint inserted to open up the area that was block to allow for better blood flow.  So we waited for news.

There's really not much to tell about this day except that later we watched some movies. post later, bye!

[This is Karen (Mom) talking now]  I used the afternoon time to email my friends to let them know what was going on and ask for prayer.  I feel isolated from my family and from information on my Dad.  When we were Skypeing with my Mom this morning she informed us they were going to do the stint proceedure and new nothing more than that.   So I was so thankful to get the following email update on my dad from a friend...
I talked with Mrs. Germany tonight and she wanted to update us on Karen’s father. The doctors decided he is not a good candidate for the stint because his plaque was too calcified for the balloon to push it out…they are now waiting on carotid artery test results and if those are good, the doctors hope to do a double bypass on Wednesday morning.
I love you Daddy! (He's going to have a fit that I posted all this)
Thank you to my friends in Vicksburg for helping keep the lines of communication open and keeping me updated and informed of what is happening with my dad.  Thanks to all of you for praying for us in our journey to adopt Kristina, Lera. Luba and Vladik as well as praying for my dad and mom now too.

  1. The surgery went extremely well, thank God! He's out now and Grandmama will get to see him very soon. They've fixed his problem so now he's good as new. ♥
